About Us

Eastfield Community Centre has always been a place built by the community, for the community.

It all began in the early 1980s, when the Eastfield Tenants Association came together with a vision: to create a space that could bring local people together and support a wide range of activities. Through dedication and teamwork, the first Eastfield hall was opened in 1983—and from there, the centre grew into a hub of community life.

Over the years, the centre has seen it all: renovations, relocations, and even TV appearances! From providing warmth and meals during the 1988 renovations in Cambuslang, to welcoming back groups after the COVID-19 lockdowns, Eastfield has always been more than just a building—it’s a lifeline for many.

In 1991, the current centre opened, and since then, it’s been home to an incredible range of groups and events: from lunch clubs, toddler groups, dance classes and support meetings, to festive Christmas fayres that fill the building with joy and connection.

Our story is shaped by the people who care about this place—from volunteers and trustees to local families, key council staff, and generations of users. During difficult times, such as the pandemic and recent threats of closure, our community has come together stronger than ever. In 2024, we took a major step forward, beginning the process of a Community Asset Transfer to secure the centre’s future.

Today, Eastfield is still thriving—with new groups, a strong committee, and a clear purpose: to provide a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive space for everyone in the local area.
